This week we have a few words from a player that really needs no introduction - Suzette Thomas. Suzette has represented Australia on several occasions previously and is again wearing the Australian colours when the Australian Women's Team play against South Africa at the Barastoc, Warwick in April this year.
"Being selected to captain our Australian Women’s Team to play South Africa would have to be the pinnacle of my Polocrosse career. It is with great enthusiasm and commitment I look back on passed experiences and representations and believe that this task is going to prove a serious challenge, of which I am very pleased to be a part of. I am a mother of four children, with a dedicated and supportive husband Ben Thomas of whom all sacrifice plenty to let me play at this level. This will be my 4th Australian representation as a senior Women’s player, including the 2007 World Cup, 2008 UK Tour, 2009 Quadrangular Test Series and the 2014 New Zealand Women’s Tests. I am a firm believer in having a good strong work ethic in being both physically and mentally prepared for this level of polocrosse. It is a team sport- the preparation is paramount to not let another team member down. A team of stars will never beat a star team!"
Suzette hasn't mentioned a list other other sporting skills - but she has given us a photo using horsepower still! ... See MoreSee Less
Introducing Elizabeth Reid - possibly known to a few of you as Lizzie Lyster...another member or our Australian Women's Team playing against South Africa as the Barastoc competition at Warwick, QLD in April 2017
"Hello, Lizzie Lyster was my name although recently married it is now Lizzie Reid. I am 29 Years old and has played Polocrosse since the age of 5. Throughout my Polocrosse career I have represented my state “Western Australia” at Polocrosse Nationals since 2004. I was on a consistent winning streak until our Women’s Team were defeated in Albury - April 2016. I have represented my country on two occasions First being – Australia vs New Zealand Women’s Test in 2014 & Second The World Cup (South Africa) 2015. Being granted the opportunity to wear the Green and Gold has been my dream and passion since I was a child. I live 45min South of Perth on just enough land to cater for our Polocrosse and Polo Ponies. My favorite horse that I have ever ridden is Raindrop, a chestnut mare with a baldy face. Raindrop is Luke’s top Polo mare although with her easy to adapt attitude, and fast agile movements, she defiantly suits both games and enjoys the challenge. Polocrosse has created an amazing life for myself, my family and my friends. It has allowed me to travel overseas on numerous occasions with fantastic memories and created friendships that will last a life time. I strongly believe that if you are determined, set your mind to a goal and work extra hard at it, then it will happen!
