Additional resources from the Australian Sports Commission (ASC)

Polocrosse Australia supports the ASC’s modern approach to officiating, which focuses on the participant, their individual needs, aspirations and motivations. The approach empowers officials to create positive sporting environments where participants, officials, coaches, volunteers and communities thrive.

With a modern approach, more people become engaged in officiating roles and are supported to grow and develop their skills and knowledge. The new approach will also attract a diverse workforce to officiating that is representative of our diverse Australian communities. It’s about creating environments that are safe, fun and inclusive where everyone feels welcome and is supported to achieve their goals.

Below are some of the resources and programs the ASC has available to help sporting organisations to better support their umpires.

The Community Officiating Essential Skills Course

This course will help you take a modern approach to officiating, focusing on participants, their needs and motivations.

Officiating Masterclasses

Each Masterclass expands upon topics covered in the Community Officiating Essential Skills course and guides officials on how to apply this knowledge in their own environment by following the ASC’s Officials Development Model.

Supporting Others

The ASC’s Supporting Others resources enable and empower people to provide on-the-job, developmental support to coaches and officials. This helps create safe learning environments that positively impact the quality of participant experiences. A range of animated videos and supplementary resources can be used in both informal development contexts and formal mentoring, facilitation and educator training programs.
