COVID-19 Update:
It’s been a number of weeks since the last Polocrosse Australia update regarding COVID-19, it’s fair to say the sporting landscape has changed every day since then. During these unprecedented times it is important that we keep our valued members and stakeholders as up to date as possible.
We understand that many of you have questions regarding what the rest of the 2020 season may hold for polocrosse, please be assured that the Board are looking at all available options to safeguard the Association and ensure our sport can pick up and play again as soon as we can.
We know that players remain motivated and are doing everything possible within restrictions to keep riding your horses. The Association will be guided by the Federal Government and State Governments and the relevant health authorities as to when and if this polocrosse season can resume. The safety and security of our players, members, volunteers and the community remains our top priority.
There have been many questions about current memberships – however, what the season holds is still very unclear. Whilst initial discussions on a range of options around payments made for the 2020 season have commenced, once we have a clearer understanding on what the outcomes for this year will be, the Association will determine the preferred options with the State Associations. As you know membership fees are comprised of PAA membership, State Association membership and the insurance component.
The long term sustainability of our sport is top of mind as we have these discussions – it is also important that we do not inadvertently negatively impact any aspect of our sport when considering potential refunds or roll forwards of fees.
The PAA are also working closely with Polocrosse Victoria surrounding potential options for the 2020 Nationals, we will keep you updated as this progresses. With the social distancing restrictions currently in place, the 2020 PAA AGM will now be held via Zoom video conference this coming weekend (Saturday 18 April commencing at noon AEST). In normal circumstances the PAA AGM provides an opportunity for collaborative discussion of the past and coming year, it is acknowledged this may be difficult. If you would like to join the PAA AGM as an observer, please contact your State Association for the meeting ID and password.
Thank you all again for your support and patience and we look forward to updating you again soon.
Stay safe,
Graham Lane
President, PAA
